JUST FOR TODAY

See you looking my way but our eyes never meet. I’m trying to find meaning through your tel-e-phone screen. Ahh-haa. What happened to em-pathy? Ahh-haa. Is all sympathy lost in me.

Oh, God
Why do I treat me this way?
Dear God
Will You hear what I have to say?
ahhh-haa
Now I’m on my knees to pray
Ahh-hmm
God if it’s just for today

Nobody sees me. Like I don’t exist. Oh Mama never said there’d be days like this. Ahh-Haa. Living with men-tal ill-ness. Ahh-haa. And they say, I am just sensitive.

Oh, God
Why do I treat me this way?
Dear God
Will You hear what I have to say?
Ahh-haa
Now I’m on my knees to pray
Ahh-hmm
God if it’s just for today

So I sit here in the shadow. Always just off to the side. Trade you my tomorrow’s here for some of your time. Ahh-haa. These long and lonely days. Ahh-haa. God save me if just for today.

Oh, God
Why do I treat me this way?
Dear God
Will You hear what I have to say?

Ahh-haa
On my knees I pray
Ahh-hmm
God if it’s just for today
Thank You God
just for today
